Do you love nature? Do you love learning? Have you ever wanted to be a scientist?

Come down to the Wildwood Community Center on Friday, 08/23/24, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to participate in the Great Florida Pollinator Census and Great Southeast Pollinator Census.

All it takes is 15 minutes of watching a plant and marking down what you see. It’s that easy! We provide the plants, the identification guides, and the counting sheets.

No experience? No worries—we will have experts on hand to help.

You’ll help researchers studying pollinators, which are critical to our food supply and to the world around us. Did you know that more than 100 U.S. grown crops rely on pollinators? These include almonds, non-citrus fruit trees, berries, melons, and squash, among others.

There will be lightning talks on nature and gardening throughout the morning and a more formal presentation on butterfly gardening after the counting is complete. Light refreshments will be served.

Free to attend and participate. All ages are welcome. No registration necessary.

This is a partnership between the City of Wildwood and UF/IFAS Extension.
